The charger includes an integrated Type A RCD with 6 mA DC detection and electronic earth fault protection (PEN fault detection built-in). It complies with the Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021, is fully UKCA and CE certified, and carries IP54 and IK10 ratings for outdoor durability. Temperature sensors on all main contacts guard against overheating, and the charging cable can be permanently locked via the Easee app or local interface to prevent unauthorised removal.

Smart Connectivity & Network Management

Every Easee Charge comes equipped with both Wi-Fi and an integrated 4G eSIM offering lifetime mobile data. This ensures each charger stays online for software updates, performance monitoring and remote configuration through the Easee Portal. For larger sites, a dedicated Wi-Fi mesh or wired connection can be deployed for guaranteed uptime and synchronised load balancing. Administrators gain full visibility of energy usage, firmware status and RFID access in one intuitive dashboard.

  • Lifetime connectivity: Built-in eSIM with free mobile data keeps chargers online for life.

  • Smart scheduling: Configurable charging windows to align with time-of-use tariffs.
  • Cost visibility: Live kWh and cost tracking through the Easee Portal.

Compact, Durable & Sustainable Design

At only 1.5 kg and 69 % smaller than typical commercial chargers, the Easee Charge minimises material use and environmental footprint without compromising performance. Its IP54 / IK10 housing withstands year-round outdoor conditions, and the UV-stable front cover is available in five colour finishes - White, Anthracite, Red, Blue and Black. Built in Norway for harsh climates, it’s a proven performer in car parks, loading bays and public spaces.

  • Weather-resistant: Designed for outdoor use in rain, frost and heat (–30 °C to +50 °C).
  • Low maintenance: No moving parts; firmware updates delivered automatically.
  • Eco-engineered: Saves ~4 kg of copper and plastic per unit produced.

Expandable Infrastructure with “Easee Ready” Backplates

For developers and facilities managers planning phased rollouts, Easee’s modular Ready Backplate system allows pre-installation of charging bases throughout the site. When demand increases, fully functional chargers can be added later using simple plug-and-play connection - no rewiring or downtime required. It’s the ideal way to future-proof commercial premises and reduce upfront capital costs.

  • Phased deployment: Pre-fit bases now, activate chargers when demand grows.
  • Minimal disruption: No additional cabling or civil works during expansion.
  • Flexible scaling: Add, move or deactivate chargers with ease across the network.

Easee Charge 22 kW - Frequently Asked Questions

Is 22 kW suitable for my site, and what supply do we need?

22 kW output requires a three-phase supply (typically 400 V). Easee Charge automatically adapts between 1- and 3-phase and can be limited to match your available capacity. Many UK commercial premises already have three-phase available; if not, we can design for 7.4 kW single-phase now with an upgrade path.

Not sure what you have? Arrange a call and we’ll review your distribution board and headroom.

How does load and phase balancing work across multiple chargers?

Easee’s built-in controller shares available current across connected chargers (up to 101 per circuit), automatically queueing sessions and rebalancing phases to prevent overloads. Crucially, this logic continues to operate offline, so charging remains safe even if your internet connection drops.

Is it tethered or untethered? Which cable should we use?

Easee Charge is an untethered Type 2 socket unit. Use any Type 2 lead (we typically recommend 5–8 m for car parks). The cable can be permanently locked via the app/local interface if you want to operate it as a site-issued tethered solution.

How do users start a charge - app, RFID or open access?

Sites can enable RFID cards/fobs (NFC/MIFARE), app control, or open access depending on policy. Approved RFID tags are stored locally on each charger, so authorisation still works without internet. This enables fair usage policies for staff, visitors or tenants.

Can we track energy per driver, department or tenant?

Yes. Each unit includes a built-in energy meter (±2%). Pair users with RFID/app identities to attribute kWh and export reports for cost allocation, expenses or recharging schemes.

Does it integrate with back-office software (OCPP)?

Easee supports OCPP 1.6 via API, enabling connection to selected back-office platforms for billing and fleet management. If you already use a platform, tell us and we’ll confirm compatibility, or propose a suitable alternative.

What safety features and certifications does it have?

Integrated protection includes 30 mA AC RCD with 6 mA DC detection, earth fault monitoring, temperature sensors on main contacts, and cable-lock security. The enclosure is IP54 / IK10. Compliant with UKCA/CE and the UK Smart Charge Points Regulations 2021.

Will it work with solar PV and time-of-use tariffs?

Yes. Pair with the Easee Equalizer to prioritise surplus PV and balance the site load. You can also schedule charge windows to align with off-peak tariffs for lower running costs.

What connectivity is included - and what if Wi-Fi drops?

Each charger ships with Wi-Fi and an integrated eSIM (lifetime data). Load balancing and RFID authorisation continue locally if the internet connection is unavailable, ensuring resilient operation.

What does installation involve for a car park or campus?

Typical works include civils (pedestals/groundworks), new circuits from your distribution board, network provisioning (Wi-Fi mesh or hard-wired), commissioning and RFID/app setup. We often phase installations using Easee Ready backplates to keep capex down and add chargers as demand grows.

Arrange a call and we’ll scope your bays, loading, and phasing plan.

What about homes or smaller sites - is there a 7.4 kW option?

Yes - see the Easee One 7.4 kW, the single-phase version ideal for residential and light-commercial use.

What’s the warranty and ongoing maintenance?

Easee provides a 3-year warranty from installation. Units have no moving parts and receive over-the-air firmware updates, so maintenance is minimal. Evergy can support spares, replacements and site expansions as your needs grow.
