Extras & when they apply

If your property needs more than the standard scope, we’ll flag it clearly and price it before work starts.

Common extras

  • Cable distance over 5m or non-standard routing (loft, underfloor, garden runs, outbuildings)
  • Additional drilling, ducting or minor groundworks to reach the parking spot
  • Consumer unit upgrades (e.g. no spare ways, SPD requirement, specific RCD/RCBO types)
  • 4G connectivity kit where home Wi-Fi is weak at the driveway
  • Pedestal/mounting post where a wall mount isn’t suitable

Situations that usually need a chat first

  • Three-phase supplies or planned upgrades
  • Leasehold/landlord permissions or shared/remote parking bays
  • Long external runs requiring armoured cable or trenching

Smart charging & off-peak tariffs

We’ll pair your charger and app correctly, set schedules, and enable the right money-saving features so most charging happens when electricity is cheapest overnight.

  • App pairing & account linking (Ohme, Easee, Hypervolt, Zappi)
  • Schedule setup for off-peak windows and price caps (where supported)
  • Load considerations so the charger plays nicely with the rest of your home
  • Wi-Fi review and options for a 4G kit if driveway signal is weak (extra)

FAQs — quick answers

What counts as a standard install (and why is 5m included)?

Our standard install covers a surface-mounted cable run up to 5 metres from your consumer unit to the charger location, one masonry wall penetration, mounting, commissioning, app setup and safety checks. Beyond 5m or more complex routing is priced as an extra so you only pay for what you need.

Do I need landlord permission or DNO notification?

If you rent or are leasehold, you’ll usually need written permission. We handle DNO notification at commissioning; where prior approval is needed (e.g. supply upgrades), we’ll advise before work starts.

How long does installation take on the day?

Most straightforward installs take 2–4 hours. Longer runs, board upgrades or groundworks can extend this — we’ll confirm timings in advance.

My Wi-Fi is weak on the driveway — what are the options?

We’ll try optimal placement and pairing first. If signal remains unreliable, a 4G connectivity kit (extra) keeps your charger smart for tariffs, updates and remote support.

Tethered vs untethered — which should I choose?

Tethered keeps the cable ready on the wall (convenient). Untethered looks cleaner and uses a separate lead from the boot. The right choice depends on driveway layout and preference.

Can you work with my solar panels or battery?

Yes — we install solar-friendly options. For example, Zappi can prioritise surplus solar. Ohme, Easee and Hypervolt integrate well with time-of-use tariffs.

Do I need 22kW three-phase at home?

Most UK homes are single-phase and charge at up to 7.4kW, which is perfect for overnight top-ups. 22kW needs a three-phase supply; if you have it, we can advise on suitable hardware.

How do you handle load balancing and PEN fault protection?

We install in line with UK Smart Charging Regulations, using built-in or external load management and ensuring PEN fault protection. We test and document the installation at handover.

What if I have on-street, shared bays or a parking court?

We’ll assess cable routing, permissions and safety. Sometimes you’ll need landlord/management approval, trenching, or an alternative charger location. We’ll outline options and costs clearly first.
